Rome: This Capital City Just Got Better

Rome: This Capital City Just Got Better

I went to Rome with my cousins. On arriving into the city, we saw it bustling with cars and also seemed monumental and beautiful. The best time to visit Rome in May and September due to its weather. We checked in to our hotel and then went on a short walk to Colosseum. It was amazing. We had our lunch at Luzzi restaurant.

Then we went to Palatine Hill. The Roman Forum is situated beneath this hill which is a large plaza.  It housed the city’s most important buildings and architectures. We then went to see the Pantheon which is like a tomb. A Roman artist, Raphael was buried in it and there are many more artists buried there. It was very dark and had statues inside it. It was built during 27 BC to 14 AD. Then we went to Trevi fountain which had amazing sculptures and gelato stalls around. Trevi fountain was built in 1732.

Rome is popular for its old architecture. The next day we had the Italian breakfast that had options for ham and cheese, eggs and all kinds of bread, croissants, baguettes, and coffee. Then, we went to the Vatican to have a glimpse of its wonderful museums. We adored the brilliant work of Michelangelo at Sistine Chapel. We had a tour guide with us from Savannah, who had lived in Rome for 15 years. The artistic pieces there put us in awe. We then went to St Peter’s Basilica where the bodies of the past Popes have been buried. They were elaborate tombstones. It had a magnificent altar in the center that was made of bronze. We had a fascinating glimpse into Roman life. Finally, our trip ended and we enjoyed a lot. Make sure you spend a week here.
